Reality capture is a rapidly growing industry, with ever-improving hardware thanks to shrinking sensors, evolving workflows as things like drones, handheld SLAM scanners, and even robots become more commonplace, software simplifying the processing workflows, and new techniques like Gaussian Splatting completely changing what is possible for image collection and streaming complex models. As these processes continue to evolve and improve, more industries, and smaller players within existing industries, are becoming more aware of reality capture’s value and seeking out service providers to collect this increasingly critical data.
One of the areas in which reality capture is certainly not a new proposition, but is becoming even more popular and for which demand is evolving is for as-built documentation. As construction projects are being completed, or before a renovation project is getting started, more organizations are asking for reality capture data to help support the project. Whether the firms working on these projects are using an in-house scanning team, or are outsourcing to a third-party, these scans are becoming a key part of workflows.
Toward the end of the month, Geo Week News will be hosting a webinar focusing on exactly this workflow, diving deep into reality capture workflows for as-built documentations. The 60-minute panel discussion will take place on July 29, starting at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, and all registrants will receive access to the on-demand recording of the conversation as well as live access.
This webinar is intended to be a deep dive that can bring value to a number of different stakeholders, including service providers who would like to add these types of projects to their offerings, leaders in AEC firms who want to add these services to their proposals or want to improve already existing services, or asset owners who want to know what benefits they can receive by insisting on reality capture data being worked into new build or renovation projects.
Featuring industry veterans with experience in this field, the webinar will touch on all of the topics these groups need to know about. They’ll talk about the real value that is being derived both for the contracted firm and the asset owner, and how they have positioned their services to derive the most possible value. Panelists will talk about the specific technologies on which they’ve relied, and what has led to the best results. They’ll also talk about some of the challenges in this workflow, both in terms of onboarding new technologies and some of the barriers that can exist in communication between the contracting firm and the owner.
