NV5 To Host Virtual Event, Geo Sessions, in September

Last October, NV5 held its first-ever Geo Sessions event, a three-day series of virtual presentations and panel discussions covering some of the most important topics in the geospatial industry. While NV5 had hosted similar one-day events in the past, Geo Sessions 2024 marked the first time the series was held across multiple days, and things went well enough that Geo Sessions is coming back for 2025. This year, it will be held September 16 to September 18, with each day’s events starting at 9:00 AM Eastern Time and running through 11:00 AM. All three days will focus on a different specific area, starting with lidar, then moving to SAR, and finishing up with spectral.

On its event page, NV5 describes Geo Sessions as a virtual thought leadership event focused on geospatial trends, techniques, and applications, with expert insights into lidar, SAR, and spectral data from professionals in government, academia, and the private sector.

The results from last year’s Geo Sessions speak for themselves and provide the basis for why NV5 is holding it again in 2025. For the 2024 event, over 5,000 people registered, representing over 150 countries. Those attendees represented higher education, geospatial, consulting, and government agencies, among other sectors. And in terms of feedback, each of the following four categories was, on average, rated higher than 4.5 out of five: Audio/video quality, ease of use, content relevance, and presenter effectiveness.

You don’t have to take our word for it, either. Here is just a sample of the feedback received from attendees following the event.

“Great idea to have these presentations. With climate change, the impact of Transportation Infrastructure, and difficulties in getting up-to-date data like aerial imagery (active or passive), I think satellite imagery can help manage the transportation assets' life cycle.” - A representative from FDOT

“Great presentation, very smooth, speakers were clear, interesting, and presented very well. Thanks for a great event!!” – Amelia Jaycen from SciTech LLC

“Awesome presentations, thank you. Please continue with these Sessions. This is the first time I have watched and they have been incredibly interesting.” - A representative from the UK government.

“The opportunity to hear from such experienced and diverse professionals in the field at no cost is incredibly valuable. Thank you all for this opportunity.” – Paria Ettehadi from FVA

So, what’s on the docket for this year? As noted above, the three days will each cover those three different areas, which are the same categories that were highlighted in 2024. That said, there are different themes within the broader categories. For example, artificial intelligence and machine learning are the major topics of the lidar-focused day’s panel discussion. The second day, focused on SAR, dives into some practical use cases, including how this data can be used for disaster response. And finally, the spectral day will have some focus on hyperspectral’s power. All three days will have the same format, starting with a 55-minute panel discussion to be followed by a pair of 30-minute presentations.

There’s no cost associated with registration for this event, and every attendee receives access to a recording of the panels and presentations, so even if you can’t make it on the day of the event, you’ll still want to register. Finally, as an extra bit of value-add, there will be three additional focus webinars taking place in the weeks after the main event. Prepare to gain even more insight into thermal infrared imaging, maritime surveying, and advancing infrastructure management with intelligent GIS solutions.
