GSA BIM Program Manager Dr. Calvin Kam Departing for Optima

Dr. Calvin Kam, Manager of the GSA’S National 3D-4D-BIM Program since its inception in 2003, will leave his post January 18 to become Vice President of Strategic Innovation at Optima, a private developer and design/construction/management company.At GSA, Dr. Kam’s program established guidelines for implementing building information modeling, promoted its adoption by government design and construction contractors, and broadened awareness of BIM’s benefits for asset owner organizations. Thanks to his efforts, 3D laser scanning is a core element of the GSA’s BIM Program. We thank Dr. Kam for his contributions to past SPAR conferences, and wish him well at Optima and as a visiting professor at Stanford University.
