September 10, 2025 – Golden Software has upgraded its Surfer mapping and 3D visualization software package. According to the company, the upgrades improve 3D drillhole viewing functionality by offering “several upgrades to save time and streamline creation of subsurface maps.”
The enhancements include the ability to create, edit, and export contact points in drillholes, access to up to four different light sources, and the ability to rename layers. The new version also includes enhanced usability features, including legends for base layers with unique value symbology and the ability to change font sample script.
Commenting on the upgrades, Surfer Product Manager Kari Dickenson said, “Surfer remains the most powerful 3D subsurface visualization package for users in numerous technical and scientific professions, and our recent enhancements to 3D drillhole viewing has significantly expanded its applicability in the energy, hydrology, and environmental monitoring sectors. All users will find something to like in the latest version.”
