GIS Certification Institute announces first class of GISP-E certified professionals.

June 5, 2025 – The GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) has announced that 41 individuals have successfully completed its newly launched GISP-E (Emerging GIS Professional) certification program.

According to a statement, “This landmark achievement marks a significant step in the evolution of professional development for the next generation of geographic information systems (GIS) practitioners.”

The PreGISP exam, GISCI said, was “designed to assess foundational knowledge and practical skills in the geospatial field.” The organization stated that GISP-E certification “recognizes early-career professionals who demonstrate strong potential and commitment to advancing in the field of geospatial science and technology” and “serves as a key entry point for individuals beginning their journey toward the full GISP credential.”

Remarking on the announcement, Tony Spicci, Executive Director, of GISCI, said, “We are thrilled to welcome this first group of GISP-E certified professionals. Their success underscores the importance of creating pathways for aspiring GIS professionals and ensuring a high standard of excellence from the very beginning of their careers.”
