Jeff Williams from ScanData LLC in Nashville, Tennessee called me up two weeks ago to tell me about some new laser scanning targets. Jeff does a lot of modeling from scan data — one of his challenges is identifying specific targets in a scene. Scan registration and follow on modeling is extremely difficult if there’s ambiguity about which target is which. Targets often have to make it in a tough environment; indestructible is good.
The new targets are laser printed on a synthetic tag and can be numbered sequentially. These particular scans are from an HDS 6000 on high density with, of course, no fine scans.
