Capnor AS, Stavanger, Norway, reports it has acquired Canadian laser scanning service provider Can-Tech Design Inc. headquartered in Guelph, Ontario. Capnor general manger Gunnar Dirdal says the acquisition accelerates the company’s growth plans in North America as Can-Tech also operates from Erlanger, Kentucky. Dirdal says he plans to open an office in Calgary, Alberta, and is eying opportunities in Houston. Earlier this year Capnor opened an office in Aberdeen. According to Dirdal, scale is becoming more important, particularly in the oil and gas sector, where clients expect fast response times anywhere in the world. Can-Tech offices (now Capnor Canada Inc.) will receive computer upgrades and will be provisioned with Capnor software for post-processing laser scan data.
