Notre-Dame Is Getting an A.I.-Powered ‘Digital Twin’

The famed Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris is one of the most iconic religious structures in the world. In 2019, much of the cathedral was destroyed in a fire, leading to a lengthy renovation period but a recent reopening. As was covered throughout those restoration efforts, reality capture data was a major reason why they were able to recreate the cathedral in its original form. Now, they are taking things a step forward, partnering with Microsoft to create an AI-powered digital twin.
