NOTTINGHAM, UK – 3D Laser Mapping announced last week it has appointed Jon Chicken as managing director. Jon will take on responsibility for the day-to-day running of the supplier of laser scanning hardware and software and will manage the company’s continued worldwide expansion, according to a press release. 3D Laser Mapping founder Graham Hunter will meanwhile take on the position of executive chairman. Hunter will focus on the management of key suppliers, development of joint ventures as well as research and development to ensure the company’s offerings continue to ally with customer expectations and market demands, according to the release.
“Due to the ongoing expansion and successes the business has achieved in the past twelve months, including new offices in South Africa and Australia and a number of major product launches, it has become necessary to implement a more formal and defined organisational structure,” said Hunter in a statement. “Jon has demonstrated a clear management style that is well respected both within the company and in the wider market place and I am confident that this will drive us forward in the forthcoming months and years.
“I believe one of the key aspects of our ongoing success has been our ability to listen to and respond to the needs of our user community. As we continue to grow it is critical that we maintain these core values and this new appointment will allow me to remain personally involved at all levels.”
Jon Chicken joined 3D Laser Mapping in April 2011 as sales director with responsibility for managing growth in sales of laser scanning hardware, software and systems including the StreetMapper mobile mapping system.
“This is an excellent opportunity for me personally and for 3D Laser Mapping, it’s customers and business partners,” said Chicken in a statement. “I am really excited to be guiding the company as we move forward in the next stages of our development and know that I can count on the support of staff and colleagues within the industry.”
