Surveying solutions from Teledyne Optech at Esri Electric & Gas GIS Conference

September 28, 2015Teledyne Optech is pleased to announce that it will present innovative and efficient surveying solutions for infrastructure and asset management at booth 315 in the Esri Electric & Gas GIS Conference taking place from October 5 to 8 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Teledyne Optech recommends the Optech Orion C airborne lidar system for monitoring transmission and distribution lines in populated areas, as it uses a Class 1 eye-safe design for low-altitude operation. The Optech Galaxy airborne lidar system excels at large-scale pipeline monitoring, especially in difficult terrain where its SwathTRAK™ technology keeps point density and swath width on spec despite rapid changes in land elevation. Both the Galaxy and Orion have a vertical target point separation distance of just 0.7 m, the best in the industry, enabling users to detect each individual cable and differentiate lines from overhanging vegetation. These systems also integrate tightly with our line of RGB, IR, and multispectral digital cameras to help measure heat and vegetation, and are available for mounting in external pods or on the aircraft floor. All Teledyne Optech airborne lidars provide in-air quality assurance with Optech FMS Nav’s real-time data display and maximize their accuracy and efficiency with our advanced Optech LMS post-processing suite.

For monitoring transmission towers and checking for damage, Teledyne Optech will also describe the improved endurance and flight characteristics of the new, camera-equipped Optech XR6 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Compared to the current method of helicopter-based inspection, this light-weight, portable system offers significantly lower expenses and improves safety for the surveying crew.
