THE HAGUE – Here at SPAR Europe, Gexcel Srl has released SolidImage Streaming, a newly developed, cloud-based lidar streaming and sharing tool. The Gexcel R3 Point Cloud Engine and R3Xtream technology allows, the company said, almost any browser to visualize and share virtually unlimited solid images via the Internet on local workstations, iOS- and Android-based mobile devices. The solid images are “RGB or greyscale 2D image representations of 3D datasets, with all the 3D depth information contained behind them, allowing the visualization and measurement of three dimensional features.”

The SolidImage Streaming is billed as “the perfect Internet sharing tool for gexcel R3Xtream datasets, providing data-serving and sharing of unlimited simple images and orthophotos, while allowing the client to look at fully managed 3D and 4D projects using just an Internet connection and browser.” The SolidImage Streaming is designed to be used even in low-bandwidth situations. For mobile devices, a touch screen user interface has been designed to take points and to measure distances. Users can also store and export those measurements. Further, there is functionality to control individual access levels to specific projects and “3D full feature analysis can be executed, including metadata, vector and raster layers easily stored for later use in standard GIS and CAD packages.”
