Dr. Christoph Fröhlich, Akihiro Iwata Recognized for Distinguished Achievement

This year we recognized two individuals for distinguished service to the industry.

Dr. Christoph Fröhlich, managing director of Zoller+Fröhlich GmbH, is someone who we believe accelerated development of the 3D laser scanning industry, dedicating his career to development of phase-based scanning technology beginning with his doctoral research.

Akihiro Iwata, a member of the Information and Control Systems Department of Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation, has worked tirelessly to advance the understanding and deployment of 3D laser scanning in process, power and other industries in Japan and other Asia/Pacific markets.

Last year’s award recognized Ben Kacyra, co-founder of Cyra Technologies and CyArk, and Alan Lytle, leader of NIST’s Construction Metrology and Automation Group and chair of the ASTM E57 Committee on 3D Imaging Systems. In 2006 we recognized Tad Fry of Anheuser-Busch. In 2005 Kirk Knorr, now with Burns & McDonnell, received our first annual distinguished achievement award.
