New server, operating modes integrate upfront laser scan data prep tasks into efficient workflow

AVEVA Group said Tuesday its LFM Software division is launching new laser scanning software products April 15-18 in Colorado Springs at the 10th annual SPAR International conference on end-to-end 3D: capture, process, deliver.

Cambridge, U.K.-based AVEVA said as laser scanning becomes more affordable for businesses, “new industries will start to see the benefits of accurate as-built information.” To that end, the company is introducing a next-generation LFM server and Operating Modes for efficient workflow to maximize the use of 3D data for the plant, power and marine industries.

AVEVA acquired LFM Software from Zoller+Fröhlich (Z+F) in October 2011. LFM Software is widely recognized for its ability to accept data from all brands of 3D laser scanners, and exporting to 3D integrated plant design systems, CAD and Review platforms.

The new laser scanning software products continue this data neutrality, allowing users to now integrate upfront laser scan data preparation tasks into an efficient design workflow for maximum productivity and flexibility:

  • New LFM Operating Modes cover scan preparation, registration, LFM Server dataset and LFM NetView project generation
  • New LFM Server boasts more powerful measurement capabilities and the ability to import data from hand-held and mobile devices, providing greater flexibility and savings across a project

The new LFM Server also features:

  • improved functionality to enable offline data reviews and overall project time savings
  • direct integration with AVEVA Everything3D for the plant market
  • completely redesigned optional CAD link module for AEC and BIM projects
  • connection to Autodesk’s Revit 2013 allowing designers to work with massive laser scan datasets in their familiar design package
  • new server supports rapid volume selection and the ability to look at the BIM model in the 3D BubbleView
  • new module complements existing links to AutoDesk and Bentley products

”SPAR International 2013 is the perfect place at which to launch our exciting new laser scanning software products,” said Bruce Douglas, AVEVA senior vice-president, marketing and product strategy. “By listening to customer feedback, we have designed the new LFM Operating Modes to offer an unrivaled user experience. It has greatly simplified what was previously a complicated laser scan data preparation task. The Modes can be used stand-alone or as part of a seamlessly integrated workflow within LFM Server.”

AVEVA is showcasing the new laser scanning products in booth 506 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs for the 10th annual SPAR International conference.
