Fireworks with a Drone's-Eye View

Here in the US, we’re entering high summer and preparing for celebrations of our Independence Day on July 4th. And that means one thing: fireworks. Big, technicolor explosions in the sky. A perfect opportunity to get some cool drone footage, right?

Maybe not. It’s illegal and most definitely dangerous to do this kind of thing yourself. Police in major cities like Boston are asking you to leave your drones at home when you head to a fireworks display.

We here at SPAR also ask you to leave your drones at home, but we’ll also offer the next-best thing: this drone’s-eye video taken at an Australian fireworks display earlier in the year.

According to this CNET article, the fireworks display in Sydney on New Year’s Eve is among the largest in the world. It “features 100,000 individual pyrotechnic effects made using 7 tons of fireworks — and brought a crowd of 1.6 million down to the Sydney Harbour foreshore.”

It may not be your local 4th of July fireworks display, but it’s still spectacular to see from a new point of view. Enjoy.
