SAM adds Smith to senior management team

AUSTIN, Texas – SAM, Inc. announced this week that Patrick A. Smith, RPLS, has joined the firm as part of the senior management team here in the Austin office. Smith has been a Registered Professional Land Surveyor since 1984 and has more than 35 years of experience in the surveying profession, according to a press release. He brings to the firm extensive knowledge of a wide range of surveying practices, including boundary surveys, land development surveys, engineering design surveys, route and right-of-way surveys, topographical surveys, photogrammetry and high-definition scanning.

Pat was the owner and president of Interstate Surveying, Inc. for 17 years. His career includes experience with several large surveying operations, such as Geogram Corporation, Turner, Collie & Braden, Espey, Huston & Associates, VanSickle, Mickelson & Klein, and most recently with Stanley Consultants, Inc., where he was land development manager in Austin, the company-wide technical chief of survey.

Pat has also been very active with affairs related to industry leadership and stewardship. He has been a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors (TSPS) since 1984, serving in all its officer positions, including as TSPS President in 2000, and currently as Chair of the TSPS Governmental Affairs Committee. He is an active member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), currently serving as Chair of the Board of Governors and representative on the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) Joint Governmental Affairs Committee.

According to the release, Smith will take a prominent role in expanding and developing new opportunities for the firm across a range of markets.
