Optech announces Teledyne majority ownership

Toronto, Canada – Optech Incorporated, a manufacturer of lidar and camera survey instruments, announced this week that Teledyne DALSA, Inc., a subsidiary of publicly traded firm Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has acquired a majority interest in the parent company of Optech Incorporated. Teledyne Technologies is a provider of instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, aerospace and defense electronics, and engineered systems. Teledyne DALSA is located in Waterloo, Ontario, near Optech headquarters.

“We are excited that Teledyne increased its ownership stake in Optech,” said Don Carswell, CEO of Optech, in a statement. “The investment demonstrates Teledyne’s commitment to further growth at Optech, as well as our company’s technology, clients and markets. We will continue to offer our clients the latest in imaging technology survey solutions, and Optech products will be enhanced by having a closer relationship with the Teledyne companies who work in complementary areas.”

“Optech’s lidar systems, which produce detailed three-dimensional images, add a new level of capability to Teledyne’s portfolio of visible, infrared, X-ray and ultraviolet sensors, cameras and software,” said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and CEO of Teledyne, in a statement. “In addition, Optech’s bathymetric lidar systems used for coastal zone mapping and shallow water profiling are highly complementary with our marine survey sensors and systems.”
