Grahl, a geospatial industry expert, will build Leica’s educational resources and use a range of media to get the word out

Leica Geosystems Inc., the world‘s leading manufacturer of 3D laser scanners, said Tuesday it hired Christine Grahl, former editor of geospatial trade publication Point of Beginning (POB), as content marketing manager.

Grahl, who started with Leica this week, is an APEX Award-winning editor and writer with 18 years of experience on BNP Media, a leading B2B media company. She was with POB for five years, where she was responsible for content strategy across all print and online media channels, including spearheading last year’s launch of POB’s geospatial trends website GeoDataPoint.com.

“Throughout my career in B2B media, I’ve increasingly become interested in content marketing, which is essentially developing valuable content for an organization in a way that supports customers and adds value to a brand,” Grahl told SPARPointGoup.com in an email Wednesday. “Over the last five years, I have worked closely with a number of individuals who were affiliated with Leica Geosystems in some way – employees, dealers and customers – and they always had great things to say about the company and its products. Leica Geosystems has a reputation as a technology innovator and solutions provider. The company is on the verge of leading some major changes in surveying and construction workflows. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to apply my background in B2B media to help support a brand that already carries so much value in the market.”

Headquartered in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, Leica is part of Sweden’s Hexagon Group and maintains U.S. headquarters in Norcross, Ga. The company also specializes in offering digital airborne and lidar sensors for the geospatial industry.

As Leica’s new Content Marketing Manager, Grahl will lead the creation and deployment of educational resources using a range of media channels to support professionals involved in the capture, modeling and visualization of 3D spatial information in the construction, BIM, infrastructure and engineering, interior finishing, public safety and forensics, surveying, aerial and mobile mapping, and asset management categories.

Grahl told SPARPointGroup.com that POB Managing Editor, Doug Fisher, has taken over her responsibilities as POB and GeoDataPoint.com editor.
