Last month in Denver, Colorado, professionals from across the geospatial, 3D, and AEC communities came together for the annual Geo Week conference and exhibition, with this edition of the event setting records for attendance and exhibitors. The program, as we’ve covered extensively, ran the gamut in terms of topic, providing attendees the chance to hear from industry thought leaders about the state of their sectors and specific use studies showcasing the capabilities of this space.

Among the highlights every year, of course, are the keynote addresses, with this year’s each touching on separate topics, though with overlapping themes. Through each talk, attendees heard about the incredible value that geospatial technology can bring to operations, how that value can be multiplied by combining data sources, and of course the importance of people and collaboration across teams and disciplines. Now, you can watch those talks in full with recordings, which you can find below.

DFW Airport’s Digital Evolution: 3D, AI/ML, and Event-Driven Architecture in Action

The keynote kicking off conference programming for day one of the conference focused on the digital evolution of DFW Airport, one of the largest airports in the entire world. This is a space that is larger than Manhattan in New York City, with a wide variety of buildings and of course vehicles coming in and out of the facilities on a constant basis. In this talk, Kelly Watt, Adan Banda, and Tarini Shukla spoke about how technology is transforming operations at the airport, specifically touching on things like digital twins, IoT, and the aforementioned combination of data sources for one comprehensive solution.

Francis Scott Key Bridge: Rescue, Recovery, and Rebuild

For the second day of the conference, things were kicked off with a presentation about the response to the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse that took place in March, 2024. After a container ship struck the bridge, it immediately collapsed, tragically taking six lives and disrupting movement through one of the country’s busiest ports. The keynote included talks from Ronda Schrenk, Mike Aslaksen, and Jeremy Wasson, who spoke about how geospatial technology was crucial to this response, and the quick collaboration between teams on the ground.
