Getting accurate results for surveyors is, of course, the most important part of the job, but it can often be easier said than done to get their hands on affordable but still effective GNSS receivers and rovers. Emlid’s aim is to make that balance a reality with their line of products, which were on display this year in the Geo Week exhibition hall. During the event, we were able to catch up with regional manager Mateus Sione to talk about the company’s goals, their partnerships, and how the event was for the company.

Sione really emphasized their mix of affordability and effectiveness to Geo Week News, as well as the ease of use. He said, “That’s our mentality and that’s our goal, that you can take our device from the box and it’s a really fast and simple setup.”

It’s that increased accessibility that he believes separates the company’s offerings from their competitors, as they can appeal to both those entering this space for the first time and long-time surveyors looking for strong results. He said their receivers don’t include many of the confusing buttons and options that others do, making them ideal for a new user that may not have as much experience with the technology. At the same time, Emlid also has users “migrating” from other brands because they can get the same results for a lower price point.

One of the big points of emphasis for Emlid has been their partnerships. Sione relayed that it is important to them that when they do form a partnership, it’s with leaders in the industry. With that in mind, they have a hardware/software partnership with Pix4D, connecting their ReachRX with Pix4Dcatch. They also mentioned their status as an Esri partner, connecting their ReachRX to apps like ArcGIS, FieldMaps, and Survey123, among others.

And finally, their newest partnership is with Wingtra, with their receivers being integrated with their drones. To add to that integration, their receivers come with an orange cap to match the unmistakable design of the Wingtra drone.

In addition to the hardware mentioned above, Sione talked about the software they offer, Emlid Flow. This software is easy to use and can be accessed via both Android and iOS. He said that their users run the gamut across surveying and construction, mentioning use cases such as topographic and boundary surveys, layouts, and Earthworks.

Overall, Sione was happy to be able to connect with a lot of their existing customers throughout the show. He noted that the entire week was filled with people coming by their booth to let them know that they own some of their products and how satisfied they are with them.
