This year we recognized two individuals for distinguished service to the industry.

Ben Kacyra, co-founder of Cyra Technologies and most recently CyArk, is someone who we believe accelerated development of the 3D laser scanning industry and brought to fruition ideas and technologies that may have been two to five years longer in the making without his vision and drive.

Alan Lytle, leader of the Construction Metrology and Automation Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has worked diligently to help establish industry standards and create a common language for communicating about 3D laser scanning and related non-contact measurement technologies, first at NIST and now also as chair of the ASTM E57 Committee on 3D Imaging Systems.

Last year’s award recognized Tad Fry of Anheuser-Busch. In 2005 Kirk Knorr, now with Burns & McDonnell and then with Jacobs Engineering, received our first annual distinguished achievement award.
