The ocean is full of monsters. Thanks to the dedication of scientist Adam Summers, you’ll soon be able to access detailed scans of 33,000 of them.
As Summers explains in this video on Wired.com, he is using a CT scanner to capture the fish. Only, instead of putting them through the scanner the same way we do with humans, he has set up a system where a moving sensor rotates around a “burrito full of dead fish” to capture the scans.
Then Summers reconstructs the fish, one layer at a time. The results are spectacular, but it might turn you off of fish tacos for a while. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
