Michael Mock at Rapidform was troubled by those people questioning the validity of the National Geo video that showed how you could scan a wrench and then quickly print it out using a 3D printer. So he made his own video.
This one isn’t quite as entertaining as the other, but reality is hardly ever as entertaining than entertainment, right? The problem with the original video is that National Geographic (probably rightly) determined that all of the software-intensive middle stuff wasn’t all that interesting to watch, so they cut that part out. Unfortunately, it’s that software stuff that’s kind of important to getting the process right and understanding how it works.
