Five Reasons I’m Looking Forward to Geo Week 2025

After so much anticipation building over the last few months, Geo Week 2025 is finally right around the corner. In less than a week, we will be wheels up en route to Denver for the premier event bringing together the geospatial, AEC, and reality capture industries under one roof. Over the last couple of months, we have covered what the show will be covering and how vital the conference program will be for those in any of the related sectors. That includes looking at specific topics like reality capture and the modernized NSRS, the keynotes for this year’s event, questions that will be answered, and more.

As we get closer, though, the excitement starts to build for everything else on top of what we’ve covered since last fall. Below, you can find five more aspects of Geo Week and the three days it encompasses about which I am particularly excited. And don’t forget - you still have time to register for this year’s event here.

Connecting with Old Friends

One of the best parts of any in-person event is being able to catch up with industry peers and friends face-to-face, an opportunity that for many of us only comes up once or twice a year. While it’s great being able to stay connected via social media, email, and whatever other remote technology, but there is nothing quite like being able to speak face-to-face about things both business and personal. Geo Week is one of those handful of opportunities to speak with industry friends every year, and I think we’re all looking forward to that aspect. With that in mind, please check in with Geo Week’s exhibitors and the show schedule, looking out for various networking events and happy hours.

Checking Out New Technology

One of the main parts of my job is reading press releases about new products and speaking with those who had a hand in making these products, be it a new scanner, new software, new receivers, or any other piece of technology that fits under our umbrella. It’s one thing reading and speaking about these tools, but it’s always great to be able to see them in person and, when applicable, take the opportunity to try it out and get that hands-on experience. Geo Week is one of the few chances I get through the year to have all of these different tools available under one roof. Even if you’re only looking for one specific kind of technology, there will be different options on display as well as experts who can answer your most pressing questions about the tool.

All of the Chance Conversations

I mentioned above how exciting it is to hang out with old friends, but one of the other advantages of an in-person event is the conversations that come about by chance with people you’ve never met before. Whether it’s someone in line for lunch, or sitting next to you at a session, or just someone you bumped into on the floor, there’s so much opportunity to make new, meaningful connections. That looks different for everybody, but for me, it’s the best opportunity I have all year to get a sense for how end users are thinking about the industry in all of their various sectors. For others, it could mean a new partnership for your business, or a mentor to take you through the next steps of your career. Don’t miss your chance at the show to speak with anybody you can - you never know what will happen next.

Hearing Cool Case Studies

Every year, Geo Week’s conference program is filled with educational sessions and fascinating talks from thought leaders about trends to know in their industry. In addition, there are a variety of case studies covering many different kinds of projects that really bring the program together. One of my favorite parts of the show is hearing these real-world examples of how users are taking advantage of the technology and completing mind-blowing projects. This year will be no different, and I can’t wait to hear about techniques and projects I never would have thought of and how brilliant people are pulling them off.

The City of Denver

In between conference sessions and networking at the event, this week also gives us a chance to hang out in Denver, which is one of my favorite cities in the United States. While it’s not the warmest time of year in Colorado, it’s a beautiful city with no shortage of great options for food and beer, and if you’re interested in the outdoors great hikes are just a short drive away. It’s the only time every year I get to experience the city, and I’m looking forward to discovering some new restaurant or brewery.
