Conservationists Use Satellites and Geospatial AI to Guide Caribbean Coral Protections

This article highlights the latter use cases, with Wright discussing a use case with geospatial AI being used to help conservation efforts for coral reefs in the Caribbean. Mapping the largest known cold-water coral reef habitat

For our last article we’ll stick to coral reef monitoring, but this time move to the less famous cold-water coral reefs, specifically off the coast of the Southeastern United States. As noted in the piece, the reef in question is roughly the size of Yellowstone National Park and is the largest deep-sea coral reef that has been mapped to date. This article details how the mapping was completed and some of the insights that were gained from the project.
